Principal’s Message
My name is Yumi Kawasaki, and I am your proud Principal. I have called Watts my home for the last 9 years, first as an Assistant Principal and now as Principal. I’m originally from Jalisco, Mexico and immigrated to this country at the age of two. I grew up in East Los Angeles where I attended Eastman Elementary, Stevenson Jr. High and Hamilton High School Music Academy. I am a mother of two, a daughter and son and I understand the importance of a high quality education. When your students are on my campus, they are my “kids” too and want for them what I would want for my own. It is my goal as a Principal to make EMMS the heart and gem of the Watts community and invite you to join me in this pursuit by becoming an active member of our school. See you soon #onewatts.
